I will get better…
by TheSwede on Apr.27, 2010, under Anything
My long break from poker was interrupted by 3 small tournaments on a different network then Pokerstars, but I wanted to ease into poker, not battle against thousands of players as I normally have to do. A solid 8th and a 15th spot was the result in the 2 NL Holdem tournaments and spectacular 2nd place in Omaha PL. I netted £843 and was happy with the way I played.
Know I can play just about every poker game that is available but need practice on a few of the really strange ones like Razz & Badugi. So HORSE games have not been something I have entered but in the future I sure will since this is what the true legends always play. 8-Game Mix is a variety of this and with more games it should be harder. I have to look at the video “How to Play 8 Game Mix” to get my skill up.
OMG for Badugi since this is one of the few games that I know of that the worst hand wins. If you are used to playing to get the best hand the transition to Badugi might be a tough one. Learn more by watching the video “How to Play Badugi”! I watched it and still have a hard time getting it right while playing.
I will put my mind into Hi/Lo games for a while to learn the skill necessary to be the ultimate player in bigger events both online and live. Next time I sit down with Hachem, Moneymaker & Raymer live I hopefully can join in on their discussions of those games.
So when is my next tournament going to be played you wonder?
This week is basically filled with events both private and with work so there is not a chance I get a game in until maybe the weekend if I’m lucky. If the sun is shining on the weekend chances of a game is ZILCH since I’ll be out in the garden with wifey doing spring cleaning. YAY! NOT!

Haven’t played a tournament in almost 2 weeks and starting to feel strange, but I guess that is what you get.
Was reading an article about MI-turtle and his strategies for being a topnotch 45-180 Sit’n Go player and this was more then interesting. Been watching him for a while and was impressed how he managed to get so deep into so many tournaments, now I know why.
More aggressive then anyone I’ve seen, and pushing in positions that is nothing I have seen before, and his thoughts about the game and players are unlike any other. He is successful and earning a buttload so I guess it works. But if i compare him to ImDaNuts who is also extremely good they have 2 very different styles, which makes me want to combine the 2 for the ultimate Online Poker Tournament player.
For me I’m having some more time off the table waiting for the next big event SCOOP.
Why!

Finishing just before the “big” money is something i have a habit of doing lately.
Personally i think I’m an OK player but when this happen time and time again it makes me wonder. Basically i had enough of these “oh-so-close” moments that I’m putting my poker shoes on the shelf for a while. Not making any money in MTTs as I normally do is not the way to go and there are other things in life to spend my money on.
My last exit that really blew the gasket was when i was deep in the 50K with 24 players left and just doubled up to just over 550K.
I get the dreaded rockets and make a 5 bet in middle position and everyone folds. Next hand rockets again. This time with a raise and re-raise in front of me so i make it 300K to get them to fold their pathetic hands. Both people go all-in… damnit!
Easy call and very happy when i see TT an WTF!!! K9 in their hands.
What is wrong with people was my first thought when i saw the K9, but when the flop came K99 and rag rag on turn and river and i lost all my chips, I realized that going all-in with K9 with 24 players left and a healthy stack is genius. I fail on the border of big money every time losing to IDIOTS that does things like that. Is it time for me to become one of those idiots to be able to win?
Be idiotic and brainless makes you money which is why playing poker is clearly a game of skill.

Been close so many times in the past few months in this tourney and yet again i did a very good tournament. Terrible
A terrible bad beat by scotty_m74 (14th) dropped my stack to only 55K with blinds 3k and 6k. After getting lucky twice i was back to over 200k but yet again hammered by a bad beat down to 73k, and this time by the guy who ends up winning.

443 entrants in this exiting turbo event and i managed to snag the win. Good since the roll was getting a bit low.

Poker is too much fun!
I love the game and the especially the thrilling moments of being close to the final table. So during December PokerStars will see a bit more of me

A terrible month in poker with a couple qualificationwins to Sunday Million, and a very close call to enter an EPT event. Came third in the Main Event qualifier after my AA got busted by K9 suited.
I get AA on the button and raise 6x BB and he instacalls, flop is K99 which looks like a safe board so i push the remaining 30K and get called by K9. What do people think!!!
